Waste Regulations: Applications to register exemptions, which most farmers will be liable to do, must be made to the Environment Agency priorto the 15th May 2007.
Whole Farm Approach: Taking the paper work out of farming, a one stop online farm data base which incorporates waste exemptions, cross compliance, statutory management requirements, soil protection plan and The Agricultural Census. In completing this, farmers will reduce the chance of an inspection by Defra.

Single Payment Scheme: Farmers will have started to receive the 2007 application forms. ALP Surveyors Ltd has a wealth of experience in the preparation and submission of the forms saving clients time and the risk of penalties being applied.
Stewardship: Many farmers and landowners have signed up to the Entry Level Stewardship Scheme which offers a flat rate payment of £30/ hectare. A lot of farmers and landowners have not looked at the possibility of organic farming which offers a flat rate payment of £60/hectare and conversion grants of £165/ hectare in the first two years.ALP Surveyors Ltd have successfully applied on client’s behalves for all types of stewardship and would happily discuss this with potential clients further.
The Kate Barker Report: In essence ‘regional and local planning bodies’ should review their green belt boundaries to ensure they remain relevant and appropriate’, as such some green belt and or green wedge land will have to be released for residential development. Farmers and landowners should be looking to promote such sites and the most common form of promotion would be an option agreement.ALP Surveyors Ltd have a large database of developer contacts, and are able to actively market sites and assist in the production of agreements which safeguard the clients interests.
Redundant Farm Buildings. These can be used for a variety of use. The Midlands are a hive of activity with demand not only for housing and office space but also primary and secondary processing sites. Derbyshire County Council is also now operating a new grants scheme to help with the costs of the refurbishment of redundant rural buildings, to bring them back into economic and business uses.
